In classic rock history, Winslow Arizona was made famous by the Eagles, when they released their song “Take it Easy” back in 1972. It’s definitely worth a stop in for the photo op, and to meander around town and check it out.

Winslow has some cool late-1800’s architecture as well, including the lovely La Posada Hotel and excellent Turquoise Room restaurant there on property. La Posada used to be a Harveycar train stop on the Santa Fe Railway, and Amtrak still uses it as such. Passengers still get off the train, stay at the hotel, and take day trips to see nearby Homolovi Native ruins and other nearby sites including Petrified ForestMeteor Crater, and Monument Valley to get the famous shot and angle when Forrest Gump stopped running in the middle of the desert.

If you’re looking for something a bit less formal, my buddy Kyle owns Captain Tony’s Pizza, which serves up some excellent pizza, wings, and subs.  Tell Kyle that Kevin says “hi” if you stop in…he’s a really good dude that I’ve known for 30+ years.
